replacing Windshield glass

Replacing windshield glass, actually all the glass, on my '31 CCPU Budd cab restoration project. I have the top piece off the windshield and working on getting the 86yr old glass separated from the frame which is being difficult. Does anyone have a link to a video that shows the whole process, including placing the seals? Appreciate any help. Also any glass dealers that you have used and were pleased with the product and price. I have already done a search on the Barn.

Thanks for any and all help

Lay a short piece of 2 x 4 on the glass and hammer it against the frame.
A bit of Kroil sprayed around the gasket setting material helps.

I've found that using a local glass shop is cheaper and just better all around than the vendors. I don't like to work with glass, so getting someone else to do the assembly is a big plus for me. My local glass shop did my windshield for $150 (2 years ago). That was the glass and the fitting into the frame. A fact I didn't know, Just about all glass shops handle flat auto glass.

Hi Terry:

Did you get the frame painted before the installation, or did you paint it body color after the installation?

Tom the Kroil was the trick, broke the contact with the metal and the glass about fell out! As to using a local shop, they can do the flat windshield with no problem, but the tempered side and rear window glass is something they have to order, most likey the same place I can buy it..

I painted it! It can be seen in my album "My A" The only thing I provided was the frame and the old windshield for a pattern. I got it back complete and ready to install. He dinged me $150 and I think the vendors were getting about S180 + shipping + the rubber setting material and you had to do the work. It was not a bad deal. I was happy with it.
