removing rear motor mounts

decided to install rear float a motor. removed the three bolts on frame and the two on the motor. can not hammer the mounts backward there are three tabs that go through frame that the rubber fits over how the heck can I hit it back with those tabs goin through the frame?. motor mount is in there pretty tight as it is.

Those tabs are actually bolt sleeves that you can knock out of the way with a punch. They can become pretty stuck to the rubber, but should move with persuasion.

The engine mount only has small holes to fit the bolts, not the sleeves that go through the rubber. The mount is stuck to the rubber. It should move back, leaving the rubber and the sleeves. Remember to remove the front body mount bolt, as that will prevent the engine mount from sliding rearward

With the engine supported preferably with a 2x4 and jack under the oil pan you can remove the outer plate on one side and the rubber mount on the outside of the frame. Once off you can remove the metal sleeves from the outside .
You can then use a hammer to get the mount out of place . You will of course have to push the passenger side mount to the rear and install new rubber. Make sure the rings in the rubber for in the holes properly and then insert the steel bushings from the outside and then outer rubber and plate. If you are changing to float a mounts put flywheel housing side on and longer vertical bolt trough to stabilize that side before going to the other side.

If you have a frame spreader that may help and at times I've use a porta power with a slight pressure or even a small bottle jack with a slight pressure .. Did I say slight !!!
Between Frame and bell housing.

Same for driver side. Doing mounts in the car with engine in is a pain.
I have done my fair share and then some.
Do one side at a time... Passenger side and then driver
Best of luck!
