Guys,
I am a bit perplexed as to what fasteners were authentically utilized at the lower end of the hood support(s) on a '40 PU.
I asked the guy who is supposedly the guru of '40 PU's and apparently he does not know. Anyone?
Thanks in advance.
The lower end where the attach to the cowl?
If yes, there are shoulder bolts.
Each support arm (on the bottom) held to the edge of the cowl. Looks like book calls for slotted screws 350344-S7 1/4-20 X 37/64. I can't find a washer or lock in the books but bet there is one.
Different than the shoulder bolt at the top?
I don't have one here right now to double check![]()
The bottom of the 37 & 38 Std and the early 39 Dlx. hood support is attached to the cowl with 350344-S7 slotted head shoulder screw nut and lock washer. The support pivots on this screw. 1/4-20 X 23/64 The 01C also used this support.
The top of the late 39 Dlx support is attached to the hood bracket with the same shouldered screw 350344-S7
The Club 38-39 restoration book pointed to the parts after you mentioned the support was the same as 38 Std. and the 40 Chassis Parts books confirmed their use on the 01C.
Kube, I will look on my '41 pickup to see what is there, if they are still the original fasteners. Can't guarantee they haven't been tampered with but I will check for you.
