Logo Signal Lights/Brakelighter Compatibiliy

Will the electronics of the "Logo Signal Light" system, with the existing four signal bumper lights, support the addition of a "Brakelighter" in the rear window, to use the signal light feature also, of the "Brakelighter"?

I have to remain pro-active with todays drivers

Unless "Logo" lights have changed, I think if you call "Logo", their control panel is maxed out and will only operate their (4) signal lights .... according to my calling and asking them quite a few years ago.

Once before asked if an additional (2) "logo" trailer signal lights may be added and was told their control panel was maxed out with (4) signal lights & it would be too costly at that time to re-manufacture a control panel to support (6) signal lights.

They said that disconnecting the rear bumper signals and connect extension wires to (2) rear trailer lights would work .... but they were not at all sure about this set up meeting requirements of various different state laws.

Third Brake Light takes LED's which have a very low power draw.
Can you borrow one to test it?
Were it me, I would go for it.
Find out the Third Brake Lite's Draw from the Jim Biebach in CT who supplies them and lists his phone number in ads, then call Logo Light for advise.

My understanding after talking to Logo Lights and Brakelighter is that I need a separate source of power for each tail light (I only have one) to use both the Logo and Brakelighter together. I would also need a high volt source "ahead" of the LED lights with a selector, ie - a 6 volt turn signal switch. Not sure now if I know what I am talking about.

The best I can do with only one tail light (28 Tudor) and the Brakelighter is a second brake light - no turning signals.

.H L Chauvin was right about the logo lites controller maxed out on the plug connect, each lite is a separate wire however the brakelighter in the rear window will work well right off the brake switch or its wire and to a close by ground. The brakelighter can also be wired to function as a signal light in the rear window with left and right flashing arrows. The brakelighter puts a lot of red flash up high where its needed. Put one on my roadster...big improvement, good luck :)

I guess I wasn't very clear in post #5. The Brakeliter can not be used as a turning signal if one has only 1 brake light as in the early 28 Tudor. If some one knows of a way to do it please speak up as I would really like that function in the back window. As mentioned I do have Logo Lites.

Bump any ideas?

so the brake lighter looks like its got the flat 4 standard trailer wires coming out of it correct?

And you only want the one factory brakelight/taillight to behave exactly like it did when it left the factory?

Then the logo lights are 4 seperate turn signals mounted on the 4 corners of the bumpers?

just trying to wrap my head around what you have and what you want to do...i may have an easy solution.

SO what I'm guessing you have and what you want to do:

you have a single ford brakelight on the left side that you want to operate as it should

you have the 4 corner logo lights that act ONLY as turnsignals - not running lights or brake lights

you want to add the brakelighter to function as turn signals AND brake lights

just to clarify the brakelighter has white as ground, yellow as left green as right and brown for taillight function correct? if you want it to behave like a brake light only you would tie the brown and yellow together correct?

Here you go John...Hope it will help. Yes you do need some sort of signal system left and right w/4 ways as long as it is completely separate from the logo led. Good luck and let us know. :)

So you are saying the control board can't handle any more power thru it?

Why not run the wires that were routed to the rear turn signals to a relay. Then you could run full battery voltage to your lights without going thru the control panel. The only voltage going thru the control panel is the voltage it takes to operate the relay.

This is also a way to run full battery voltage to your headlights without routing all the amps thru the headlight switch.

SeaSlugs, You have it all correct - see my problem?

alright i will give this some more thought but right now heres food for thought:

the ford brakelight has 2 functions - one bulb for a taillight, one for a brake light. the brake light bulb you want to operate and not flash with the brakes on and turn signals on. Instead of thinking about it like a left side brake light think of it as your 3rd brakelight (or in modern terms your CHMSTL - Center High Mount Stop Lamp) as thats how 3rd brakelights behave is steady on with brakes on regardless of anything else.

so heres what i suggest - IGNORE the physical locations of your lights for the time being. Wire your brakelighter as your main brakelights/turn signals - like others have said its a few LED's they wont draw much current at all so wire them however they are supposed to be in with the logo lights.

Now lets revisit the ford brakelight that is more like a 3rd brakelight. you only want it to come on with brakes on so run another single wire directly off your brake light switch bypassing logolights and brakeliner lights - then it is brake only light.

i will have to research how the logo lights and brakeliner logic work but a few basic diodes in the wires from the logo lights to the brakeliner or vice versa should take care of any potential backfeeding problems.
