Its a beautiful day upstate New York, temp in the low 80's and the shop doors open, when the purr of a dual exhaust flatmotor vibrates the air. A look out the window turns out to be a visitor on a maiden voyage. Wally Easton from Esperence, NY shows up on a test drive of his newly finished 1940 convertible. The interesting part about this car is that it was not done in a high dollar restoration shop. This car was an on and off 2yr ground up by Wally, who is 70+, with help from friend Ted Conklin, done in the basement garage of Wally's house, lock stock and barrel. Ted's really a 34 guy and they both finished a knock out 34 roadster for a fellow V8 club member last fall. Not bad work for a couple of retiree's, huh! Wally's wife did bring up the part about the sanding dust in the house but they both had big smiles when they headed home with the top down.
