1939 distributor caps and wire alignment

Help, I am installing new original spec spark plug wires. I need help on how to orientate the inner to the outer distributor cap and plug wires. Attachments show the inner cap with 2 alignment slots and spark plug numbers along with the outer cap showing a locator tab. These caps are for the driver side. a side issue: Once I understand how this all goes together -- then how to cram the wires in and keep it together.

Wouldn't you know it, I forgot that I had printed this page from your site a couple of years ago, thanks much. Also thanks Mac for helping me in the past on a transmission rebuild I did, came out great.

Now I have to figure out how to cram this together

Looks like more problems, I found the bakelite on a distributor post is deteriorating. Can I still use the inner cap see attachment. I do have a replacement cap, but according to the instructions 'file terminals to fit' is not good. Is this really feasible

Me? I would not use that terminal plate.
File to fit? Really? There is supposed to be a .015" air gap between the rotor and each respective terminal.

cb,
Mac may kill me for this but he has gone way over and above and screened
some very nice re pop inner caps.......by screened I mean he personally checked each
one. I built 3 distributors using the caps I received from Mac NO filing.......every cap fit perfectly
Be absolutely sure to solder the ends on the wires.
