Really need help on this one. I am in the process of changing all my window channels and decided it would be a good time to repair the door lock latch while the door was open. I purchased the from Brattons on page 122 item # 64284 and can not figure out how to install the spring :(
Do I need to take the latch apart or is there some way to get it in there ?

In his post above Kevin said "A drooping outside door handle is fixed in the latch."

Kevin,
What do you mean by this? On my '31 Tudor, the passenger side door handle will not return to the horizontal position when the door is closed. Other than this, the door latch and handle works satisfactorily. I would like to know how to fix this problem.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Evan, The tudor uses a totally different latch system and I can not talk to them.

The latches I am talking about are unique to the Slant Window bodies only.

I'm not sure how the 31 compares to my 29 Tudor, but installing the new spring kit and lubricating every moving part sure made it work nice, and the handle returns to the correct psoition.

Kevin and Tom - Thank you for your responses to my question. I have the rebuld kit for the door latch assembley including the springs. I will put the parts in, oil them real well and see what happens. Well, one of these days I will do this.

I used a few drops of oil, then brushed on grease on every moving part. Mystik JT-6 high temp is a quality very sticky grease that should keep things lubed until the next time the door has to come apart.

You also need to look at the wear areas and observe how they affect operation.

That is how I figured out the slant window latch. I thought I was going to have to make a new positioning button, but I found they turn and I could use unworn spot with a 90* turn.

It is all about understanding and creativity.
