Looks very good, they worked very hard to fill the crankcase to improve crankcase compression , ---are the geared shafts rotaty valves?

Does it have an oil metering pump for the mains, or does it use grease ---I see how the rods oil.

I did a lot of 2 stroke work in the 70s, --Suzukis, Saabs, and golf carts, none of them had babbitt, all ball and needle bearings.

That's very interesting Herm.
Do u get many different [ie, unusual] engines in your shop?

Are the crankpins and main journals clamped by the flywheels? Are the rods two-piece?

The rods are normal, The crank is real different, it was already ground when they brought it, they drove it from IN. He told me 1/2 of each weight, unbolts, and one 1/2 is filed with oil for balance. The crank is also drilled for balance. He said it was an assembled crank. The mains have large four way screws, piecing the crank togather. The mains have large, thick, spring loaded washers on the crank, on each side of the main bearings, to seal each off. The rod is the first one I have ever seen that has a large dipper on it, and also is pressure fed. Thanks Bruce, Herm.

This is all the motor I have seen, I don't know about the oil pump ether, but I will ask when he picks it up. The shaft is drilled for oil, Rods, and Mains. The gears, have stub shafts on them. He did say, the car is a big bodied vehicle. The Motor runs about 2000 RPM, and really goes. They got bearings rebuilt last year, and it lasted about 100 miles. I don't know about rotaty valves, but I will find out. It has slip on Jugs, I think they are singles, but they could be in two's, of four's. Thanks Kurt, Herm

The Aplex is the first two cycle car I have ever seen, but we have done allot of 1900 to 1910 cars, over the years, or there oddball parts. This is the only real oddball in about 5 years. When I say oddball, I mean unusal lol. Thanks Herm.

Herm,
I sent you a PM, but never heard back.
Where can I see a picture of this engine?
Thanks

Ya Tom, I got your e-Mail, and sent one back, don't know what happened. Go to my Profile on the barn here, I think click on my name, when you get on the profile, then hit Show All Albums. I am going to put other pictures of bad rods, and after pictures on soon, so check once a month if your interested. Thanks Tom, Herm.
