Howdy guys,

Ive been searching for a few years now for enough bits to install a vs57 supercharger on my 56 fairlane. The part I am having most trouble with is the cast iron bracket that mounts the blower on the engine, I have two that are broken and not useable and the only others I can find are the same or worse. Just checking if anyone out there has a good useable bracket, I believe it is the same passenger car bracket for both 55-56 ford and merc. The part no on the bracket I have is F21006 37604-1. Thanks for all your help.

Regards
Rob

There is a foundry I believe in Texas that will make just about any casting .They have been mentioned on this site several times ,but I don't recall their name .

Find someone to weld your parts back together. Cast can be gas welded, or brazed.
Ditto.
ok it wasn't a supercharger bracket that should probably look extra nice (unless it's partly hidden)
I brazed a broken threaded insert for the jaw tightening bolt of a large cast iron bench vise.
Many times I've used the vise in ways that could have broken it, but it's still here, now bolted to it's third bench.

Gas welding cast iron - Not tried this myself but, it's my understanding that heating more of the cast part being welded and letting it cool slowly helps reduce the 'edge' that can be created around the repaired area that might cause brittleness.

Have you tried contacting Ted Eaton?
He might be a helpful resource for repair, replacement or re-casting(?).

You could also contact the elite T-Bird restorers like Gil Baumgartner (CTCI), or Amos Minter. I have emailed both of these men in the past, and they responded right away.
Contact info should be on their websites.

Frank Rice (pegleg) used to cast all the brackets and bonnets for the VR series F Code passenger motors. I've got a McCullough bracket from a circa '55 kit. It's aluminum, not cast iron. It mounts a VS series on the drivers side, or an SN series if you fit the extended pulley. So I'm not quite sure what you're looking for.

I've run both VS and VR's on y blocks, if I can be of any help send me a PM.

Why don't you take it to a machine shop and have one made. If you make several, you could sell the remainder, and recover your money and then some. You might even try your local trade school. Our local trade school, and even the high schools are begging for little projects for their students to do.

Hi guys,

Thanks for all the replies. The bracket has many old repairs and I don't really trust using it in case it flies to pieces and takes everything else with it. I have spent some time with the help of a bit of bondo to make it cosmetically good enough to use for a pattern. I will see how viable it is to have it sand cast, or I have seen some really interesting methods now using 3d printers to make moulds. Thanks again for all the input.

Regards
Rob

That's a very good point.
Finding one that's in one piece is probably the best idea. Have you tried contacting the folks in the links above? They could be very helpful in your search.

Chuck Cline in NH may have one. He has a VS on his '56, has been collecting parts for years. I sold him a bracket that looks like your, but it was cast bronze if I recall correctly. I can give you his contact info if you want. John
