I need a 1956 wiper blade

I need a replacement wiper blade for a 1956 Ford Ranch Wagon. My wife purchased this car as a resto-mod, so I can't be sure that the wiper arm assembly is original. I will attach a pic of the assembly. I would appreciate suggestions for a source for this part.

The arm may not be original, likely not, but it's the original type. I think refills are available at auto parts stores although they may need to order them. Or the usual suspect old car parts suppliers have 'em.

Yes they should be available at your local parts store. Pretty sure that's where I got them for my '56 Fairlane several years ago.

All you need to know is the length and shop locally. Anyone else who sells Ford parts online will have them.

Trico offers a very long blade that you can break off to match the length of your original blade. Of course you need to cut the rubber with a box cutter, but don't need a saw for the metal part. Then you just slide the new blade in to your existing blade holder assembly.
I have been using those for a while. You can get them at Autozone or Advance Auto.

Is there a more flexing blade that will fit my 56 merc, more like the ones used on newer vehiles.

The 56 Merc Turnpike Cruiser or Phaeton model like yours has the same windshield height as the 55/56 Ford Crown Vic and the '56 Victoria's.
All the major resto parts suppliers sell wiper blades for the Crown Vic in 11" and 12" long in either bayonet or pivot pin styles. all you need to do is determine which connection style you have.
They don't offer much in the way of wiper blades for the sedan & wagon models unless people are just removing what they currently have and buying the entire set of wiper arms and blades for a Vic to use on their sedans. Hope they don't drive in the rain much. I do, so I opted for the Trico cutoff blade refills to use on my existing wiper retainers.

I do not believe the turnpike cruiser came out until 1957

Johnnydid, if you find something that works, let us know. I'd settle for something ugly, just for the winter here in Seattle.

My daughters OT daily driver uses a rear wiper that's a $30 Dealer Only item.
I pulled the rubber blade insert out of the spring arm and compared it to other blades in the store's wiper display for one that was the same length & width. Ten minutes worth of fiddling later and it was replaced for $1.99

Don't be afraid to mix & match for something else, as long as it's as close to the same size as you need.
