new intake / exhaust manifolds

Thanks, article in November / December Restorer magazine page 37 statesbe sure to have the new intake and exhaust be surfaced prior to installing,

Never had an issue,, but if you feel better doing that do it ,,,prob put on a dozen in the last few years..lately i have been using the porcelain coated exhaust manifold from snyders

ya can't believe everything ya read no matter what the source. A year ago a guy in the restorer wrote that if you used the el cheapo bumper clamps, that they would prolly crack, break, and fail like they always do; so he suggested putting a zip tie on there as backup so you wouldn't lose your bumper in the middle of the road. Really? I think there is a better way to approach that problem.....

I checked for spark by grounding out the coil wire and opening / closing the points and had a nice blue arc, however never checked the gap on high point on cam, after resetting the truck fired instantly!. 30 closed cab found after sitting in garage many years. Nice older restoration. Runs / drives great.
