Will the center strips of the 38/39 ford commercial interchange? I note they a r different part numbers. 81c-8162 and 91c-8157.

No, they are completely different. The '38 is narrow, V shaped and two pieces (with the V8 on the top). The '39 is a wide, flat and one piece. The profile of the trim reflects the shape of the different grill centers.

I'm still looking for one for my 39 half ton. I've been driving around without it for years now. She looks a little naked without.

38 bill is correct they won't interchange ,you might be able to change the whole grill. Were you at Gettysburg this year .if so did you see my rusty39.my center strip is really bent .somebody put a bumper guard on it after the fact. Sunshine

I was at Gettysburg. Yes I did see your truck. I did not bring the '39 pickup, but the '47 tudor instead.

There us a member on here who has been making the 39 center strip out of polished aluminum .I have seen them in person,
they look really nice.maybe he will chime in

After I fit my front fenders and send them off for paint, the grill and lowers are my next project. Mike thanks for reminding me, could you post the info if you have it, thanks. Scott

Here is a picture of teh 1938 and 1939 Ford Commercial Grilles. They are different.

I did the polished aluminium strip. It does look fine to just about everybody.

Home Depot stock with aluminum studs welded on (by a pro)

Custom stock could give 1/8 more for a really good replacement

I'm at work now but there are plenty of photos in my album.

Please feel free to look.
