Need a couple of taps

Hello from Texas. Work is progressing on my 1931 Model A. One of my spark plug holes has thread problems. Spark plug is good. I need a 7/8 18 tap. Does anyone have one I could borrow for an hour, on one they don't need anymore and can sell to me? Just want to clean up the threads. I also need a 3/4 16 for my oil drain plug. I found a new plug at a federated auto parts store (amazing) but I need a tap to clean up the pan threads. I am close to Marble Falls. Thanks for your help!

If the threads aren't too bad you could try cutting 4 slits into the threads of an old spark plug, then use it as a clean up plug and to help push threads back into place.

Take a good quality round wire brush and attach it to a variable speed drill motor. Run the brush in and out of the threaded hole at low speed. Then try inserting a plug.

X2 on Tom's way. I hope you have the head off otherwise those little bits you drop into the cylinder will not be doing any good.

On the drain plug, there was a 3/4 x 16 jammed in there half way. I have a new 3/4 x 16 plug that seems to go in just fine until it gets the last thread in the the pan, then it stops. I will try a 3/4 x24 and see how it works.

What year is your engine? 28 (I'm assuming) with clean out is7/8"X16, and 29 thru 34 is 3/4"X24. Brattons, and others, if pan is off, sell a repair kit p/n 9982, for $6.25. Its soldered in as the original.
