Attaching Rear Bumper Arms on Coupe

I went to install the bumper arms this morning on the 29 coupe and the bumper stands are not even close to lining up to anything. I have no idea if I am missing some sort of cross brace or have the entire thing mounted wrong. Any ideas? Just when I thought I was cruising through to the finish line.

I think you might have either 30/31 bumper arms or bumper arms used on tudor, fordors and phaetons which have shorter standoffs. I can measure my coupe's standoffs and my phaeton's standoff if you need the measurements.

I bought the arms at a swap meet and the guy said they were off a 29 but they may not have been. I replaced the body stands with 5"ones for the coupe but I might have 30-31 arms. That would be really lousy since I paid to have the arms sandblasted and powder coated. If you could measure your arms for me that would be awesome. I am fearing the worst case scenario here. Thanks for the help.

RyanB,
Do your standoffs line up with the car's rear body crossmember (where the two holes are)? If they don't, the bumper arms must be for another body. I measured my 28 coupe, same as a 29 coupe, and the standoff is 4 1/2" from the top (underside of the rear body crossmember) to the center of the standoff rivet. The standoff rivet is 16" from the rear of the frame crossmember to the center of the rivet. Hope this helps.

I dug out a coupe/roadster and a tudor/phaeton bumper arm. Both are for 28/29 cars. I took a picture of them side by side. I never knew the lengths were different. I knew the standoffs were different. The tudor one (the short one) measures 9 1/8" from the center of the pair of holes in the bracket that bolt to the frame (top of the rear crossmember) to the center of the rivet that secures the standoff. I agree with Steve, it appears you have a pair of tudor bumper arms.

I think we learned a lesson here, measure twice - cut once! Or trial fit before paining/PC.
I would contact Steve@Bert's and maybe you can trade your shinny brackets for a correct one's
