I may be showing my age here(my youth!!!)..

I have a 8BA with an early model air filter.. Do I need to oil the top felt piece or the fabric on the sides as well?

Just use 30 wieght?

Thanks

The Ford Owners manual says "Do not clean or oil the felt".

The picture is a bit unclear, but I think that's a 36 filter. I don't think it's meant to have oil on it.

It looks like the one I have on my 36. The filter is a Copper Brillo-like material enclosed in a chicken-wire mesh. Not meant to be oiled. Can be cleaned with solvent ( watch fire danger) or replaced. Some of the suppliers sell them all made up new. I'll look up suppliers for you if you wish just e-mail me at VINOKURS@AOL.COM
