How do you remove the plug wires from a Helmut Dist.

I can't seem to pry the cover off over the wires, afraid of breaking it.

Pull out/wiggle the distributor plate, while pushing down on the wires.

Yes push wires into hole While you pry it open.

make sure you have removed the rubber O ring from the center post. You will never get it apart with the O ring in place. Strongest piece of rubber in the whole world.

Exactly what Floyd said, make sure the O-ring is removed

X2 on all the responses. Remove the center "stud" O-ring and then shove the wires in while you're pulling the plate out. Would be easier if you had a third hand but it's easy.
