Installing my spindle with all new bushings and kingpin. I used a wooden dowel and sandpaper then a 1" rod with 120 grit paper to ream out the bushings. Seems to have worked pretty good. I got the pin through pretty easy, the bottom 1/2" needed just a little tapping with a small hammer to get the pin all the way through.

My question is how loose or tight should the spindle turn? Mine takes some effort, nothing one hand can't push. There is absolute no rocking at all like before replacement. I'm just wondering if these should be a little tight to start with and allow the weight of the drum and wheel to help with the movement?

That sounds just a SMIDGE too tight, plus......there needs to be just a little bit of room for some lube between the pin and bushings.

Dripping Springs......That's 'World Headquarters' where Ryan runs The 'Barn and The HAMB from. DD

Yes, just a bit more sanding. I test mine with 30 wt on the pin. When it's just right it slowly drops under it's own weight.

OK spent a little more time on the right side and it is nice easily turns. Did the left side in 1/4 of the time and the pin slide right in. Both turn very easy and no binding. Thanks GB!

Yes Dripping Springs is kinda the place to be now. Lots of great people and the car scene is growing. We are just a couple of miles from the Atomic Garage :)

Seth here are a couple shots. The frame is pretty much done, just getting the axles back on then the brownie box and transmission, Hope to have the engine back this fall. Body work guy just gave me a 6-9 month delay so I am out no looking for another one. I own a water hauling company so this truck will live on as a parade truck advertising our business. It was a fire tanker in New Mexico its first 50 years or so then sat in Amarillo the last 20 or so.
