New here from Carlisle, PA

Hi all, I'm new here with my first classic car. 1956 Ford Country Sedan, 1 owner, 312 with Novi AC added (AC currently not in car).

I come to this from the motorcycle world. Two years ago my wife and I were rear ended by a young woman who was not paying attention, thankfully we were in a car at the time. Well, my wife has not been on a bike since and my riding has changed as well. It has always been a dream of ours, along with our 12 year old daughter to have a family cruiser. We had a few wishes mid 50's (mine), picnic mobile (my wife), 3 rows of seats (my daughter), so when this hit Craigslist I had to have it. I quickly sold my custom Harley bagger and bought it.

So, here I am, trying to figure out what to do with it. It runs well and after a little brake works, stops good enough. So, we have a driving project, exactly what I wanted, and are having fun. My initial plan was to keep the pretty much original stock interior, front two seat were recovered, original is still under it, and work on the exterior. But the little things are starting to get me so I will be seeking some advice on the little things, which I will be posting shortly.

Anyway, glad to be here, and really look forward to becoming part of the group.

If the pictures don't show I apologize every forum is different. I tried to upload but it said I was missing a security token. I will get it figured out and post them later. I refuse to use Photobucket any longer, too many ads and issues.

Welcome DSmoke,
Posting photos ?
When you're creating a comment or post look just below the bottom of the text box. If there's a "Go Advanced" button click that one for the 'advanced' functions. One of which is an icon/button at the top of the (new) text box that is a paperclip image. Click that to add photos as an attachment. There is a way to add photos directly into the text of a post but so far it's smarter than I am.

Welcome aboard ! My first car (in 1972) was a '56 Country Sedan . Paid all of $175.00 for it . I had to sell both of my minibikes to raise the money !

Wild looking bike!! How in the world did you lean into a turn without ripping off the bottom of the bags?? I loved to ride winding roads, that would really be tough. I'd like to get another bike, but I'm thinking it would have to be an older bike with the old POGO seat. The seats on new bikes are too firm and really are hard on my back. Have an old Duo Glide for sale??
Later.

There are air shocks on the rear of the bike, so you raise it to ride. It would rub on slow tight turns, but other than that is was good.

welcome to the barn nice car and bike I wish I still had my wagon I had a/c from vintage air a much needed upgrade with all that glass enjoy and welcome to the world of classic cars

DSmoke,

Welcome from the left coast. We need a/c occasionally up here outside Seattle, but mainly use it to dehumidify the air going to the defroster LOL.

Nice ride, and a great start. Most events are pretty family friendly, although a lot of us are taking the grandkids. The white top will really help with the heat. When you put the a/c in, or do the interior, come back and ask about the more economical heat and sound insulation. Makes a huge difference in our older cars.
