Hey Alex, welcome to the Fordbarn and maybe the EFV-8 Club as well. It's folks like you, Seth and others who attended the Gettysburg Meet that us old farts always hope will take an interest in these old Fords and become part of this hobby

Any day with my old v8s and the chance to meet and hang out with my flathead friends = GREAT TIME's. Thanks for everyone who was there.

Hi Everyone, Alex, it was a success because folks like you came! :) I really enjoyed meeting your crew. Next time more driving the old cars, and you're up for some time behind the wheel!

Please share more photos if you have them, I was a doofus and didn't take any! Distracted by having too much fun!

For those who didn't know, Alex, Seth, and Seth's FIL (sorry on name) were awarded the Hard Luck Award. Their tow vehicle ate a rear pinion seal in West Virginia on the way to the meet, delaying their arrival by about 3/4 of a day.

I was happy to look around at the Awards Banquet and see a good number of younger enthusiasts at many of the tables. It was a real pleasure to have two young helpers on our '37-'38 judging team on Concourse Day at Gettysburg. There should be an effort at all future EFV-8C/A meets to include the young folks in any or all meet activities. I was hoping to have some of my grandchildren there at this Gettysburg meet, as I did in 2014, but their schedules did not work for this years meet. I'm now hoping I can get them to attend the Chantilly, VA meet next June.

His name is Eugene. I have another 100 plus pictures on Facebook of the week.

I will figure out how to add an album on here if some of you don't have Facebook.

Let me know!

Glad you fellows made it home ok. Plus you enjoyed the National Meet. Next year sign up to judge and learn a lot. I always enjoy judging. Thursday night I loaded my Trailer Queen up and left early Friday morning 5:45 and got home at 10:30. Mother had to stop for breakfast and potty breaks as usual. Just can't get by a rest area without stopping. She could be sound asleep and I see a sign rest area one mile. Then I hear stop the rest area. I guess that usual with a women. Here a picture of my Junker as dad use to call my cars.

Hi Everyone. I learned that the Judges Breakfast WILL include all you can eat bacon. So that was the deal maker for me. Wanna Judge? Yup!

Jeff, it was my understanding that we would also get all the bottled water we could drink.;) After hearing about the bacon and water deal, I knew I was in there to volunteer.
Seriously though, judging sometimes takes us away from going around and enjoying all those gorgeous old Fords, Mercs, Lincolns, Commercial Vehicles, Tractors, special interest vehicles etc., etc, on Concourse Day, and many times it's a thankless job that in some cases upsets the owners who don't understand or agree with our judgement and point deductions, but what a great opportunity to learn the details on these vehicles, meet other judges on the team, and meet the owners and their family members. Everyone who registers for these meets should consider signing up to be a judge, IMO.

Judging makes me a more integral part of the meet. I've been able to help people with their cars from what I have learned about the judging process. All teams are not always the same and it has allowed me to make more friends.

I'll sign up to help judge but I'm no expert. It there an apprentice program for novice judges? I don't want to kill someones car based on lack of knowledge. The bacon thing is appealing though.

I'll also take responsibility for for Alex signing up for the fordbarn. Alex, it's an addiction, no cure.

Seth, Judging is the best way to gain knowledge and experience. A good Deputy Judge will go over the judging sheets with you and correct any errors you may initially make. Don't worry, it's FUN!! Plus we need guys like you to Fit UNder the cars.

Don

Sounds good fellas. Don I hope to see you this Sunday. I ran into Dan Barrows this weekend at a local gas and steam show.
