good morning, ladies & gents.

when I bought this to use on our '31 Coupe, I was told it was from a '32.
now I have the original '31 handle repaired & re-installed I want to sell this;
but also want to describe it accurately.

is it a genuine '32 part? if not what is it?
will gladly provide additional photos if needed.

many thanks.....

Yes, this fits a 32,33, or 34 Ford. Some models had longer shafts than others. Some were chrome plated brass and others were stainless steel. Do the keys in the pic fit the handle? I would be interested in the handle, if you want to sell it.

yes, the keys fit.
I bought it without keys and a local locksmith keyed it.
it will be on eBay soon, now that I know for certain what it is.

thanks to all who responded both on and off the board......

There is a classified section here where you could put a price on it and give someone here a shot at it first. Might help out one of those who helped you identify it, plus you wouldn't have to give all those fees to paypal and ebay, which will work out to about 20% of the selling price by the time all is said and done. You can always put it on ebay if it doesn't bring your price. Just a thought...

I hate eBay about as much as most people who remember how much cheaper and more user-friendly it was 10 years ago.

but NOTHING ELSE has the numbers of buyers looking for things that eBay does. when a viable alternative appears, I'm there. meanwhile I'll stick with the girl who's the best dancer even though she's not as pretty as she once was :p

I don't hate ebay, I use it alot, and I certainly wasn't implying it's not a great marketplace, and I'm not criticizing you for thinking of putting it on ebay, just pointing out that fordbarn is not only a great community for information, but also a marketplace that charges nothing for information and nothing for classifieds. Offering parts to hobbyists here is one way to repay the community without costing you anything, because nice, rare stuff can still bring market value here. It doesn't cost anything so you have nothing to lose by offering it here first. Put a price on it that you'd be glad to get or think it's worth and see what happens. If noone here will pay your price, you can still put it on ebay. You'll have to get 20% more on ebay to offset the fees, plus wait 7-10 days, so keep in mind that you could take 20% less than what you think you might get on ebay and still realize the same amount, so you've got some wiggle room if someone makes you an offer.

Chris,

Wherever you decide to list it, be sure and include a photo of the shank side of the handle so that the prospective buyer knows which of the two lengths of shank your handle has. It can make a difference in the handle's value as the short-shank versions ('32 roadster and standard coupe deck lids) substantially outnumber the long-shank versions ('32 roadster and standard coupe rumble lids, cabriolet rumble lids and all deluxe coupe lids). Your handle appears to be the all-stainless steel variery, which likely makes it a '32 handle. Those with some chrome-plated parts tend to be '33-'34 coupe deck lid/roadster rumble lid handles.

thanks for the additional information, David.
this is the short shank handle and 3 of the 4 visible parts are stainless.
the side of the handle that faces the trunk lid is chromed brass.
