License Plates

Looking for a 1929 Minnesota license plate for my Roadster, does anyone know what the letter right above the year signifies on a Minnesota plate I've seen "A" and "B" on 29's most often. Does anyone know what class or "letter" the Model A would have or didn't it make any difference?

I don't think it matters these days, but back in the years they were new I was told the A plate was for cars under 2000 pounds, and the B plate was for over 2000 lbs.

Thanks Tom that makes sense.
Gaylord I'm looking for a pair if you have a set in decent or even restorable shape. I just got the car from Ohio and would like to register it with 29 plates at the DMV here in Minnesota.

Here in PA . . . the state only issues one plate for the rear so another of some type can go up front. Also too, there is some obscure ruling that allows the use of a pair of old Pennsylvania license plates matching the year of the ANTIQUE vehicle. There's no doubt that some sort of standard autocratic PA governmental hoopla needs to be endured, so few antique car owners seem to bother. Our A Model Ford has a 1931 New Hampshire license plate on the front bar being the state that I identify with most.
