Stop lights stay on.

I've noticed at times when putting the car in the garage the brake lights are stuck on, press the pedal a few times and they go out. Could this be causing a short.

It can cause your battery to drain while parked... Is your pedal returning all the way back? If so maybe your switch needs lubricating or other attention

If the pedal does not return all the way you can install a pedal return spring,I think Brattons sells them.It also may be a bad stop switch. The pedal should return all the way if there is no binding in the brake system.

Sometimes if you pedal is returning to normal position then the bushing in your stop light switch is worn out and the shaft that runs inside the stop light switch catches on the housing and won't return as normal. A rebuild of the stop light switch or replacement would be a wise choice as this will run down your battery or cause a bulb to burn out.
As a second thought you can check the stop light switch manually by crawling under the car and push the rod inside and see if it moves back and forth freely. If it doesn't then the spring inside may be damaged or worn out.

Minerva, my '30, used to stick. I just FLOODED the OUTSIDE of the switch with penetrating oil & it never stuck again----"MAGIC"???

It is a little hard to lube the switch while mounted in the car. If possible take the switch loose and add a couple of drops of oil at tne brass bushings. If your switch does not have the brass bushings you might start looking for one. If your switch bushing area is worn then you should replace it. A&L makes a excellent switch that will do the job. Get a quality replacement switch from A & L......their's has a bronze bushing & does not stick.
