1932 model B Rear Axle hookup to v8?

I am looking at a 1932 model b rear axle for my project. The plan is to connect it up to a 1946 flathead-8/39 trannie. The question is, will it be capable of supporting a medium built flattie that will be driven lightly?

The reason for the 32 rear is a 1925 tudor body on a A chassis. The 32 rear is believed to be the narrowist width for the t-body. Of course my original thought was a 32 v8 rear.

Any information will be appreciated.

The "B" rears and the "V8" rears are the same. The later production 32 rears are rare and somewhat stronger. The earlier rears will hold up fine if not abused. I have a 32 5W with a built flathead and an original early rear. It has survived all these years.
All the rears from 32 to 42 are about the same width.

There are two 32 axles one (4 banger) has no pinion shaft support on the rear and uses
model A r&p
the V8 has the support and uses 32-34 gears. 35-48 could be used with mods.

32-48 are not "about the same" width.
42-48 is pretty wide , i wouldn`t use it under a `32

Hey Gene try hotrodworks.com I have this setup in my Hot ROD it's great and you don't have to worry about those tapers or worn axle bearing races. I hope this helps. They have all the answers. Give them a call. Jim.t.

Hi all; I have found that the 'late' 32's are just 33/34s with shorter tubes and drive shafts. It might be worth the expense to you, to custom build one. It's personal choice. Later Newc

You might want to do some research before posting. The early rears were the same and no support bearing. Later 32 rears were the same as 33-34 with the bearing and different bell diameters.
I did not say 32-48 were about the same width.

I have an 8BA, 39 trans, 32 rear (early style, same as Model A inside) w/ 3:78's in my roadster. So far the car has 2,500 + miles and no problems with the rear. The 3:78's make the flathead Yell @ 65 + mph on the hiway.
Merry Christmas !

It`s not research it is what i have worked on !

I have/had a `32 4 banger axle that has no support bearing
and a `32 V8 axle that has a support bearing.

Simple.

And just to confuse you even more...... i have a centersection
that that the small bell and modelA/32 4-banger TT
BUT also takes 35-48 R&P and the bearings!

The 32 in my avatar runs a 32 4banger axle and just holds up fine

I want to thank all of you for the information. I already have a '32 axle in my possession. I don't think that I will use it for this project because I do plan on building the motor for a little abuse. Most recommendations state that this probably would not be the axle of choice.

Thanks to all. This web site is awesome because of you guys.
