HI
Has anybody removed the oil pan from a 40 ford (stock 59a) in the car or does the motor have to come out? What's the procedure?

Thanks
Dan

it is not that hard, but you do have to very careful about the gasket going back on correctly. remove engine splash pans, remove motor mount bolts at front of engine, raise up and place on 2 x 4 blocks, remove wish bone cap and pull down wish bone and place a 2 x 4 on edge under it. be careful around radiator and front water pump hoses. remove exhaust cross over pipe, remove starter, remove oil pan bolts and lower pan--may have to crank engine to get the most clearance on front of crankshaft rods throws. a couple of questions--how old is the clutch? exactly why are you removing oil pan? you may want to think about removing the engine!!!
