The fact that the '40 models are typically more costly than the '39 does in fact explain this perfectly. !940 Fords are more popular than 1939 Fords. It's all basic economics "supply and demand".I agree it's a personal preference thing. But that still doesn't explain why 40's are considerably higher to buy than a 39 in same shape.
I guess - I'll chalk it up to being lucky that I paid less for the 39 and like it more.
When I'm at the point when I'm too old to push the clutch in and I'm ready to sell, I hope both cars are close to what I paid and invested.....
In my opinion 1940 Fords, like 1957 Chevrolet's have obtained somewhat of a cult status.
Yeah, but Bob Falfa knows that a '55 is way more kool than a '57 ANY day! DD

I couldn't agree more! All those things mentioned seem like extras that got taken away when the forty came out.I've had two 1940's ....a coupe and sedan but I like my 39' Deluxe Tudor much more than those 40's for the reasons you stated. The split chrome windshield frame, the way it opens, the tailights and the banjo steering wheel are tops on my list.

I thought I was the only person in the world who didn't like 57 Chevys. Turns out there are a lot of guys like me who like 39s better than 40s. As for Chevs, I like the 55s best. My first driver was a 56. Didn't they go to the 283 in 57? Maybe that is part of the reason for their popularity.
Yep, this is one of those questions that has no wrong answers.
But Falfa eventually lost to a "piss yellow Deuce coupe"!
