What does this equate too?
Thanks

Thank you gentlemen, I will book mark that link.
This does not necessarily indicate what yr the car is does it?

All it indicates is when the engine/transmission assembly passed final inspection and was assigned a number. I would assume it went into a 1931 car. Of course engines get changed over the years. Have you been able to get to the number on the frame? What year does your car look like?

The Model A Restorer's Club in Garden City, Michigan and the Model A Ford Club of America in LaHabra, California are two great clubs. They publish a a joint book called the Model Restoration Guidelines and Judging Standards. The book contains a section on engine numbers and an explanation on how they were used. This is really a good book in answering questions concerning the Model A.

If you look at the pictures, there is a ID plate on the fire wall. I have not tried to raise the numbers, but can try in the morning.
If you are looking at the plate next to where the vacuum line passes through the firewall it is a "patent" plate that just lists the patents used to build the car. If that is not what you are looking at post a picture.

You are correct Charlie, from what I could read there are patent numbers only. Later this summer I plan to remove the body so I can start on the power train. Will attempt to locate serial # at that point.

Thanks for all the help, i honestly appreciate you sharing your knowledge.

where can i buy rebuild kit for model a shocks ?

Welcome, and since shocks have nothing to do with engine numbers, you will get more replies with a new thread started asking about shock rebuilding. Do you have the tools needed to work on the shocks?

Most of the parts houses will have the shock seal kits, but worn shocks will probably need some specialized machine work to make them work correctly. Bert's, Bratton's, Snyder's should all have some shock parts.

The upper right of this page has a SEARCH feature, and I'd do a search for "shock rebuilding".

There is a good chance that engine is original to the car.You have an early 31,(flat firewall) and an early 31 engine.
