F150 top loader to 59ab adapter anyone?

Guys, guys, guys..... the word T5 was not mentioned in the OPs post.
OP... if you still have a torque tube rear and you want to keep it, you will have to do this to the trans....

Thank You! Great picture and yes, I plan to keep the torque tube. Sounds like the 8ba bell housing is what I need.

The RTS trans will bolt directly to an 8BA bellhousing. Most of those transmission have both the wide and early narrow bolt pattern. The narrow one is what you want.

Thank you flatjack! The bolt pattern is 8 1/2-9" on the top mount. Is this the narrow pattern (hopefully)?

Thank everyone for the great replies! Sounds like the 8BA bell housing will do the trick. If not, you guys have given me some good alternatives. Really appreciate the help. Long live the Flathead!!

If this is what you have in your A then the first picture JSeery shows in post #6
is what you need. The trans has most likely been redrilled to bolt from inside the
bell housing or hogs head.

Get in contact with "old Victoria". As the old song goes "He knows all about your troubles" and has the exact solution you are looking for. Good chance he built the conversion that is in your Model A in the first place.

If you look at the posted photo you can see an adaptor plate was used in the setup (looks like a Model A bellhousing). Depending on the bolt pattern on the transmission you are using and the bellhousing you select, you can back-drill the holes for the transmission or make a flat adapter plate (as shown in the photo).

Yes, the set up on my model A has the trans back drilled and bolted from inside the bell housing. Therefore, I should be able to use the same technique on the hogs head/T5 bell. The 8ba one piece bell will not work on this trans because it is the late model (after '65). The bolt pattern on the trans is too wide. I just got off the phone with Gene Sanders in Akron, Ohio. modelengineering.com. 330-644-3450 He makes the adapter (plus lots of other good stuff!) I need for the wide pattern late model F150 T170 RTS trans. It's a complete bell housing with the correct bolt pattern with a bushing for the throw out bearing. I highly recommend him for any of your questions.
Thanks again everyone,
Jseery you nailed it too!

ps. Don Delume in Ca. wanted me to send to whole trans. too many $$$
but thanks Don

I have several of the transmission that have both the wide(post 65)and narrow bolt patterns(pre 65).The ones with just the one pattern are the post 65 pattern.

What looks like an adapter plate is the mounting bracket for the
clutch and brake pedal shaft. It bolts to the two transmission ears.

Yep, just had eye surgery and my eyes are worse than normal!:D It is a little on the short side for an adapter!!! But, that is where it would go IF it were an adapter plate. Thanks for straighten me out Bob.

Would this adapter work on the earlier Ford 4 speed top loader trans. The one I have is out of a mid to late 60's Mustang and has the **** tower from a T-176 Jeep trans. Thanks.
