Help wanted once again please. How do the front fender brace panels fit. Can't determine the three attachment points. Thanks.
John

Doing the same thing on mine & it did take a bit to figure it out.
The side with the single hole attaches to the inner fender apron to frame rear bolt. The long tab goes up and out & bolts to the tab in the fender wheel opening. The bottom outer hole bolts to a hole in the lower rear lip of the fender.
At least thats how I did it, if wrong let me know. Got the R/H in, still fighting the L/H- tight fit. Picture of pass. side.

40FordDrDlx appears to have it right. The hex head bolt at the frame goes through the very rearward hole of the inner fender panel as well.
The upper attachement point at the fender goes to the outer lip. The bottom attachment goes to the inner lip. Both of these places utilized a 1/4" diameter binding head slotted machine screw, lock washer and nut. All S7 finish.
If you are attempting to install reproduction pans, be careful. They don't fit very well and some forming of the upper attachment point will be necessary. Between the poor spot weld and thin metal, that tab can easily be broken off.

Re: Fitting the 40 car front fender brace panels

Sorry this gets to you late. The front fender brace panels are ill fitting s.o.b.s and if you try to FORCE all three bolt holes to line up you run the risk of putting a permanent kink in your newly painted fender. This is what I did and it worked out well.

I bolted the panels to the holes at the bottom and the wheel opening of the fender. My 40 ragtop is completely stock, but the hole that is supposed to be used to connect the panel to the inner fender was three inches away from where it needed to be. So I went to Lowe's and bought two angle iron brackets (about 3.5-4.0" and about 1" wide) for about $1. These came with two holes drilled in each leg. Using the outer-most holes, I bolted one leg to my panel and - just by dumb luck, the outer hole in the other leg lines up perfectly with one of the two holes in the bottom of the frame where the frame intersects with the X-member. Use 7/16" hardware. I put a rubber strip between the angle iron bracket and the bottom of the frame to preserve the finish. And the legs of the brackets are just long enough so that the bottom of the panel is parallel with the ground and the panel is held away from the frame about a quarter of an inch, so it doesn't rub against your nicely painted frame. Spray 'em flat black and VIOLA!.

When the judge gets down there to look to see how the panels are attached, kick him in the *** the minute he starts to criticize it.

Mick, While I agree with you that the repop panels are ill fitting, it yours are 3" off, you have more than an issue with the repop panels.
By the way, there's a better than even chance I'll be that judge. And yes, you'll get a well deserved deduction. However, it does not sound as if your car is on the concourse level so I doubt I'd see you there.

If you should happen to judge it, you'll be easy to spot;)

Here's another way of looking at it. Fasteners are NOT concourse correct. The red angle iron is used to protect the frame when using hydraulic jack. Also, not concourse correct, but it saves the frame rail from bending.
