I'm wanting to put hydraulic brakes on my '38 tudor standard, thinking about discs on the front. Can I put later backing plates, say '42 to '48, on the back without changing out the rear end, and will I have to change the pedal assembly? Thanks for any help.

38s can have very good brakes in the std form ,if set up correctly ,They have a floater type brake ,if you are dead set on changing to juice you can rig a leaver system of the pedal and yes the backing plates will fit .Ted

You can put discs on front if you use 40 wheels. Yes you can put later backing plates on the back without changing rear end. I did the same on my 36 and used 40 wheels all around. May not have to change pedal assembly depending on MC used. Contact Richard Lacy for MC advise using 38 pedals. I used 39 pedals which requires lots of cutting on the frame.
