Debating if I should fill my roof with metal or replace the vinyl top can I see some pic's and advise on both. how hard was it for those of you who did the vinyl
there is a vender in ct. i think his name is guelos or something like that. some one on the barn will know he makes a top cover kit that is E.Z to install with the instrustions & works great. installs with out desterbing the head liner. how ever if you want the roof metal insert for the one piece look, it is labor intence & requires skill as not to damage the roof with warpage.
The current thinking here in California is not to fill the roof on an original bodied car. People may think you have a Fiberglas car.
Just an opinion,
Chris
Phats, what I did on my 36 sedan was to use a section of roof from a 70's VW bus. I welded it to the inner part of the opening and then glued vinyl top foam to it and reinstalled ( glued)the top insert that I bought from LeBarron Bonney on top of the foam( I also used the stock rubber molding around the insert just like Ford). I now have a solid roof that is safer but it still has the good look of the soft insert. I also kept the stock wooden bows for the headliner.Somehow the early cars just dont look right with out the insert. Mitch.
