Installing a new line from tank to engine.I have the ends of the old line. One end has a compression ferrule, the other end has been flared.Does the compression ferrule go into the tank,or does the flared end.Thanks.1947 mercury coupe.Sorry, forgot to add to previous post.
I think the flared end goes to the firewall. As the flex hose has fixed ends on it,something has to turn and its the end on the main gas line to connect them together.Try to temp fit the flex line to the main line end before you install. ken ct. BTY the flared end of the main line is an inverted flare type or should be.
John the right compression nut is called the Ford fuel line fitting and is still made by Weatherhead. The threads are 1/2"X20 threads per inch and the nut comes with the ferrule attached. Napa should have them or can get them. G.M.
