Carburetor Float Valve

I'm having a problem with the float valve. It is the modern needle type with the Niton tip. Every once in a while it sticks either open or closed.

I am going to replace it and I see that Brattons has the same needle style one as well the one with the s/s ball. Thoughts?

Make sure what's keeping it open is not junk in the tank. It doesn't take much to keep either the ball or the rubber tip Viton valves open.

I use the original style float valve when rebuilding carbs. Have had no problem since I went back to the original.

Check that the hinge of the float is not worn or dimpled where it contacts the valve stem. An indent rubbed into the hinge might be the culprit, whichever valve you use.
