Hi guys, I have some technical questions, this car will be burgundy with black fenders What color should the intake manifold be ? Carburetor Color ? Fire wall and under hood (bottom side) color ? hood shelf color ? hood hold downs color ? where should the speedometer cable enter fire wall ? does the cable go over the trans then passed the exhaust or should it go passed the starter ? I have looked at tons of internet pictures but there are too many discrepancies. Its a Canadian car BTW . Thanks Dave in Saskatchewan

I will say it first. Get the Restoration Guidelines and Judging Standards book from either MARC or MAFCA. It should answer most of these questions and ones you didn't know you had.

Your gear sounds like it is pointing the wrong direction. Turn it so the cable exits out the right side. It then gets a frame clip fastened to the top frame rail by a bolt, lock washer, and nut. Then it curves up to the firewall and passes through a rubber grommet. A search should turn up pictures of the routing.

I second that...This book is not only for fine point cars, but it is also for those who just what their Model A done right...fine point or no fine point.

Pluck

Burgandy is not a standard color. Firewall and underside of hood are body color. Hood shelves and hooks are black. All engine castings except distributor are Ford engine green. Distributor and steel engine parts are black.

Burgundy is not a standard US color, but the Canucks have a different palette for the body than we have, I think.

Thanks guys for your help, I am not restoring this car perfect but will get the book just for reference. I really like Burgundy on black so thats why I chose the color. What are your thoughts on Burgundy wheels with white walls ? I have yet to see a nice color for wheels . Tom , I will check that gear direction , thanks . TIP Speaking of Canucks , I had a really tough time finding the correct engine paint, ordering and shipping hazardous goods across the USA border is not worth the cost and hassle , I picked up a can of Rustoleum "Hunt Club Green" at Home Depot , I have a new water pump from Snyders which is painted already, the Home Depot paint matches perfectly , I first painted my engine with Detroit green engine paint then the home depot stuff over it . Hope it stays on !

How about ford maroon which is a more correct color but for 31.. Look at my Lucy album
Go with black wheels, black walls, red stripe
W/walls are shunned here, nobody has them:cool:

1) "Ford Green" engine paint. A google search for Bill Hirsch will turn up a vender that sell it.
2) Black
3) Body color, but not color sanded and buffed out
4) Black
