Fuel pump drive rod

maybe the rod itself has worn down some, here are some measurements to go by.
48-9400-A 8.872 CAST IRON INTAKE 8 7/8
48-9400-B 7.872 ALUMINUM INTAKE 7 7/8

And just how does a worn push rod translate into no movement from the can lobe?

The length of the push rod is meaningless if there is no movement from the cam lobe.

Yes I understand that, was just confirming that it's not the rod that's worn out too

Depending on the type of intake manifold the length of the fuel pump push rod varies. I had a hard time starting my rebuilt flat head because it was not getting enough gas. Installed the proper longer length push rod and now no problem.
