I am looking for a broaching service in Calif. or West Coast that can broach the std. 28-48 Ford drive shaft 6 spline internally. Anyone out there have a suggestion?
For broaching the inside (creating a sleeve), you could try Mitchell Manufacturing, they sell sleeves for their overdrive system, while they aren't set to the six spline, they do have the capability...
I need to cut (broach) the Ford driveline 6 spline inside a u-joint. I have talked to Steve Mitchell, in fact I will see him tomorrow, they broke their broach to do this, and said they don't need another. They must use a female-male stub shaft that slips into the factory coupler that mates to their own spline
There is a man in Paso Robles that shortens early v/8 torque tubes/drive shafts,
( I don't know his name ) that nice work.
Also, the man in Temecula (SP) down south, that does Columbia o/d rears.
Steve, are you doing something (like using a modern U-joint) that we could possibly befit from? Tell me now before I put the drivetrain back in my car!!

Jim;
Yes, I am trying to use a modern u-joint, but my application will not benefit others as I am using a differant trans than others. A modern type u-joint will not allow you to bolt the joint to the output shaft of the trans. Access to lubing the joint has to be established and somehow I will have to get lube to the driveline roller bearing as there isn't any grease packed around the u-joint anymore. All of this is irrelevant at this stage as this is work in progress.
