Do many of you use the early Ford V-8 Club Forum. It seems like I get more and faster answers using this forom then the V-8. What's been your experience.

I have had that same experience. Just comparing the number of views of very recently started threads on the two forums, it looks like this forum has a much higher volume of readership, thus, greater chance of more information quicker.

I still watch both the same and post questions on both to double my chances of getting a correct answer faster.

I posted there for a few months, but I've found I like this one better overall. If for no other reason, the forum software here is much better and more modern.

I check Early Ford V8 forum and Fordbarn almost daily and get lots of good info from both. Sometimes I post when someone that has a problem that I can help. I also check Shelley's Ford section on Chevybarn. I enjoy all 3. My only minor concern is that some of the really knowledgeable Ford experts seem to only post on one forum or the other when they could help on the forum they don't post on (for some reason?). Does anyone else share this observation?

If you have certain knowledgeable people in mind I don't think it would be out of line to invite them to participate in the other forums. They might and they might not, for good reasons or bad, but it wouldn't hurt to invite them.

Old Henry, i just found out about the ford v/8 forum, so i signed up, dont know if i can help much but im willing, i dont post much on shelly's site any more altho shes a real nice lady, but her site is just mostly for chat and leaving dates for events, i hang out here mostly, dont care for the HAMB so i havent been there in years ford1

I use both but prefer the Barn. Faster replies and more input. Some times one may be more helpful than the other, all good.

thanks to all who have helped over the past 3 years.

I read and post responses on the V8 Club Forum but post most of my questions here. I should note that at least one of the clubs technical directors will post responses on the V8 Club forum under a screen name. I note that a lot of restorer type questions pop up on HAMB and I look at those. I also have a Model A and use The Model A forum here, Ahooga.com as well as the MARC forum (not much activity). I am just glad I am not also into Model T's or I would never get off of the computer.

My thought... I love the old and new ford barn. I came from the hamb to the barn, Shelly operated the barn, ryan took over and was grateful that it continued. The hamb is great. I just look and learn, a little bs and a huge amount of knowledge. Funny I started on a ratrod site and they complain that the Hamb razzed them a lot, so... I thought perfect! ha! Since I have found myself to be more into restoration and period modifications and the barn has been a help.

I enjoy the barn and the hamb. I am more of a original ford guy, but like to see what everyone is doing. Always looking to learn. Will always read whatever knowledge that is available. I will check out the V8 Club Forum. Thank you everyone for sharing.

I find the Hamb to be a good source of info too, but you have to approach it with the right mindset. With 100,000 members it tends to get crowded, and has its fair share of eedjits, but if you wade through the dross there are some great flathead guys there. Some come here, some dont.

You might want to think this over some more.

Some "knowledgeable people" are actually boring know-it-alls.

I've always considered a "good forum" to be one that invites participation from a lot of different guys, even those who are not "experts." I do not find websites attractive if they are dominated by a couple of guys (in some cases, maybe just one) who insist on posting answers to every question ... and particularly guys who refuse to admit they are wrong.

A long time ago when I first started to hang out on a couple of old car sites, someone emailed me and cautioned, "Beware of the 'Board Queens.'"

I like the Ford Barn. There are still too many lurkers who should know they are welcome to post and expand this forum for early Ford V8s ... cars and ENGINES. (Please keep this a flathead site. There are lots of other forums for streetrods, but virtually none for original and/or hotrod flatheads.)

... and "Board Queens" has nothing at all to do with females.

The two forums are different, I think. The early Ford V8 site has a more "serious" tone, but the info provided is top-notch. The Ford Barn is much more chatty about fun stuff. I find each useful in its own way. It's not one or the other, it's both!
