New to the Barn.

I've run across a couple of Holley 94's, two are 91-99's, one is not marked, I think it might be a Chandler. But the one I'm really is a Model 59and I can't find any info. Can you all help out?

One of the 91-99's has a different top, unlike the iconic castellated, this one has a plain smooth top. I can attach a picture or two when I figure out how.

Thanks ya'll.

Does the top with the plain smooth neck have the bowl vent tube inside? If so, I'm guessing it was a truck top that someone cut the flange off.

Actually 38's used Strombergs or Chandler Groves. The 91-99 was a Ford carb and was introduced in 1939.

91-99's were 1938, good carbs, I'm running three of them on my AV8.

Negative. They were 1939 ~ 1941.

All were basically the same from the 1938 Chandler Groves, through the model 91-99, model 21A, and the model 59 of 1946~1948. Vent location refinements and control changes only. 1949 brought the addition of a vacuum distributor function from a hernia bulge on the right rear corner, but still the same basic carburetor otherwise.

If your carb with no model number also has a Chandler Groves on the right side, then that's what it is, otherwise, it's an aftermarket Holley.

Wow! Thanks ya'll. Good info!

The smooth top carb does have a vent. But it also has 91-99 cast into the float bowl.

The carb I thought might be a chandler is apparently an aftermarket Holley.

I've added a couple of photos to help. Carb on the far left is the 59.
Carbs in the center are the 91-99's. Card on the right only says Ford on the float bowl.

The 91-99 has a regular truck airhorn from 48-56. The flange is still present. Airhorns are interchangeable. I've seen tops with the flange removed so a car filter could be used.

I could swear my Chandler Groves say 91-99 on the side of them. Now I'll have to go look.

I have a Chandler Grove in my hand, on the other side of the bowl (MODEL-91-99)no breather pipe inside, breather hole in the back of the float bowl. Walt

Just looked at mine again, one has no number, no vent hole
Next one has model 91-99, has vent hole
Third, model 91-99(larger letters) no vent hole. This one also has a larger gas inlet.
I have a fourth not being used it has the larger model 91-99 print and has a vent hole.
All of these have Chandler Groves, Detroit, USA

Ralph, you stated that the 91-99 was 1938. That is incorrect, it is 1939. You may be referring to the Chandler Groves being 1938, which is correct, and which continued for a short period into 1939 with the model 91-99, along with Ford's 91-99. This is a sticky period in Ford history, in which Ford pulled off another of his contract tactics to gain the license and patents to the Chandler Groves carburetor. Ford subsequently licensed Holley to build the carburetor, and shortly thereafter sold the patent to Holley. This sort of contract manipulation was typical of Henry Ford, well known for his dislike of being dependent on outside suppliers.

Regarding vent locations, remember that when carburetors were rebuilt back in the day, they were disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled without regard to matching original airhorns to original carb bodies. All airhorns fit all bodies, and cannot by themselves be used for identification purposes.

Okay, I've got them cleaned and glass beaded. Now I need to polish the bodies.. or find someone to polish the bodies.

Any advice on polishing out Holley 94's?

But the Chandler Groves with no numbers is 1938??? And even though the later carbs say CG right on the side, thier not????
