outside door handles 30 coupe

if it is your locking handle, you need to rotate the handle to about 1:00 o clock and work it a little. they are designed so that you cannot remove the handle if it is in the lock position. sometimes they can be a pain.

If the door is painted put some blue masking tape around the exterior hole to protect the finish as you wrestle with the handle install. The only screws that should be loose are for the exterior excrunchion. If you took out any others reinstall them.
Push the door latch striker in with one hand to take the tension off the mechanism.
With the free hand install the shaft of the handle. It should be a quarter turn from horizontal. Works for removal also, only better. A rust breaker like Kroil is your friend and should be put on both sides of the latch mechanism on the handle shaft to help free it up.
This is a learning opportunity.

Wanted to replace both door handles. The old ones I could take off & on. The new ones I could not get on. I tried & tried. Took the new ones to my belt sander & took off a little of the chrome finish & bevel the edge of the shaft. No problem, work like a charm. I think the chrome finish stopped it from going in the square hole. Thats my story & I'm sticking to it.

Had that same problem with a new chrome plated spark and throttle bushing on top of the steering column.

Had to sand off the chrome plating on the bushing using my metal late and 3 jaw chuck so it would fit.

Contacted Tom Jordan from Snyders and he will contact their Supplier to modify the casting before plating to ensure proper sizing.

Great response from Tom.
