Guys, I have an "old" Ya Mallory single point dist. with cast housing. Inside is like a watch with a lot of settings. Does anyone have any instructions on how to set these up or at least a picture of one that is set up?
Thanks in advance!

I just picked up a Mallory YA 11A at Hershey this year, if you get any results or find what you need elsewhere please post it here also.

Okay,...I think I would lock up the lower plate( first photo,..with the screw at the 8:00
position), that should lock the governor out. You see how it moves,..you need the pins
tight against the oval slot.

Now the middle plate has a screw also at the 6:00 position,..I believe that is the one for
the advance,...and it looks locked-out,.."no movement",..both of the pins are at the
opposite of each throw.

Clear as mud?....yes, I agree, it should be done on a distributor machine. I even run
Model A distributor's to check the cam, and that's a low-teck unit..

Hey guys, wanted to bring up this old post regarding the mechanical advance assembly of an old Mallory YA 11A distributor for Model A/B Ford. I have one just like this, my motor runs great to around 2,300rpm and then nose dives at that point. It's like it's hit a rev limiter and won't rev past this point and breaks down.

I have a spare model B distributor which works great in the same motor, I'm pretty sure the issue lays in the mechanical advance of the Mallory dizzy. This thing worked great for a few years after being completely reconditioned, now not so good.

Does anyone have any information on how this things works and how it can be adjusted? I've attached the same images as the opening post for reference as mine is the same.

Chris

Other than a good glass beading/lubing theres not much you could do to it without a distributor machine. I have a core box with some rough ones apart as well.
There is a couple things that you dont want to do to them as well...
