Finally got my restored YOM plates

After about 18 months I finally got my restored YOM plates back from the restorer. He did a good job, but it was a long wait and many phone calls.

A fellow club member had recommended Daryl's plates of Duryea, PA. I shipped them to him around June of 2014 with the expectation that I would have them back to put on my car to take to Hershey last year. Many calls, many excuses. My credit card was charged about a year ago, so I would have thought they would be coming soon after that, but no. Anyway, after a few calls over the last few weeks they arrived, very well packaged for shipping. The quality is pretty good, but I don't think I will try him again.

He did a set for me also. About 10 months , many phone calls and excuses on his part and I got them. The work was very nice but the hassle was too much.

they look great enjoy them, but the time frane sucks and is not worth it. there are others that will give you the same job with a quick turnaround. i remember we discussed this on a few older threads previously.

He had excellent plates to start with and should have needed only a couple of days to do the job. Did he have any valid excuses? He did do a good looking job although.

Any guesses on the method used to restore the plates? It looks too clean to think the letters were done with a brush?

Sent out my 1931 Illinois Tax disk this morning to Jack in Texas. I'm sure he does his work by hand and especially these tax disks. Can't think of any other way to do them.

Mitch, we did discuss earlier and I thought it might help someone to see before and after and time frame. As to why it took so long and what excuses he used? Everything but being abducted by aliens. The last was he couldn't get to the post office because the street in front of his house was under construction for two weeks and he didn't want to get tar on his car....

I had my NY plates done by Rod Pearman at tagdr.com. He did a beautiful job with no hassles at all. I also had him do a set of Model T plates (1926) and got the same quality workmanship and a no hassle experience.
