Rant!

This is a RANT! I am not prone to rants but this deserves one. My favorite magazine, "Cars and Parts" has now gone the way of Mercury and Pontiac. Yes, it has a few pages (very few), in the back of the replacing publication "Auto Enthusiast". Unfortunately, columns such as Ford Country are no more. It seems that era of the muscle cars, Mopars and Mustangs have conspired against many of its' loyal (but older) readers and won. I won't be renewing my subscription when it expires.

Sorry for the rant.

Tom

Tom, I agree, in addition to loving Flatheads I also own a 70 Firebird Trans Am. My subscription to Pontiac Enthusiast was much enjoyed, now I get Auto Enthusiast and it has not one word about old Pontiacs. My father gets a really nice magazine with our older cars, I think its called Classic Car or something like that. They have many great stories of all the classic cars, including some on flatheads. Seems pretty soon we will be reading: Electric Car Enthusiast!

I'll Rant also!

I was really PISSED OFF when my Cars & Parts was replaced with Auto Enthusiast. This new rag stinks.
See....now I feel better too!!

Worst piece of trash one can imagine. Have been a C&P subscriber for over 40 yrs and heard this was coming. This thing will not last. It is 90% adds and thirteen pages or so of "classic cars". For their info, a classic car is definately defined to a few selected Packards, Cad's and others. Our production cars are antiques. I for one could care less about the late model garbage they feature.

Hemmings Classic Car has got to be the best magazine I found yet,not at all Ford specific but the information is the best most in depth I've found in any car magazine, alot of history.

I agree, what a rip-off magazine that is. I really enjoyed Cars and Parts magazine and have been getting it since the 70s. I will NOT renew the subscription to Auto Enthusiast. I think the best magazine on the market is Collectible Automobile followed by Hemmings Classic Cars. Lets support them or we'll lose them too!

I agree with the other comments. I subscribed to Cars & Parts, not some other rag and I just recently renewed without them telling me about the change. I read about the change in Hemmings Classic Car, which I will keep coming, about a week before getting my first issue of the new garbage which will be thrown away until next Nov. when it expires. They obviously expected a backlash since they put in the mag that there would be no refunds. I have every issue since the early '80's, anyone interested?? I don't even want to keep them anymore. I think I will refuse them when they come and the Post Office will send them back with no cost to me.

Not sure but I don't think the PO will send them back unless they are first class mail. They will go in the round file. You can check on that to be sure but I think I am right.

Not so, My wife bought some stuff at Hard Rock Cafe and unknowingly got a 6 mo sub to rolling Stone, which she didn't want. Our Post Master said to just mark refused and they would return them. After a couple of times, they quit sending them.

although not thrilled by the new combination, but it is a fact of like in the magazine business, not enough sales in the new obama economy. alot of magazines have gone under in the last 2years. if you dont see the articles you like a letter to the editor is best. boycotting will just further speed up another loss.

I certainly am in the majority of comments above. What they killed was a good mag anf replaced it with nothing I enjoy reading. Having beeen a subscriber to Car & Parts for years, I DID email the editor and publisher stating my reservations for their future, and although my subscription is good until next May, DON'T SEND ANY MORE COPIES AND SAVE YOUR MONEY, FOR YOU WILL NEED IT...

Yup, another one hits the dust. That one snuck up on us with no warning in the last issue. I've subscribed to it since the mid 70s but this ends it. Not everyone wants another muscle car magazine.

ems customer-

I understand your point but I can't agree with it. Any company that broaches a contract (subscription) to maximize sagging profits is a company that shouldn't be in business. As recently as the November issue Amos (the publisher), was soliciting subscriptions and ads for their publication Cars and Parts knowing full well that the magazine would be ending with that November issue. Imagine that you placed an ad for a Model T coil thinking that it will reach an interested audience only to have the ad appear in a "muscle car" magazine. More than subscribers were hurt in this razzle-dazzle.

Like others I contacted the publisher seeking a refund only to be told "we don't give refunds." I think a better approach would be just send a complaint to your state attorney general. Granted they will only forward a "Letter of Inquiry" to the publisher (Amos). However, it is not a good idea to ignore such letters especially if it is from the Ohio A.G., where the publisher is headquartered.

Got my rescription notice today, into the fire it went. Wonder how many others have done the same thing. Hope they fold! Never have got a answer from the editor on the email I sent.

That was one of the best magazines for overall articles, junk yard tours and history of different marques. I should have suspected when they gave praise to their journalists and photographers in the last issue of Cars and Parts but we were all blind sided.
