Every non-specific show we go to these days seems to have mostly muscle cars, newer Corvettes or hot rods but very few or no original vintage cars. Being the only model A at a show is not unusual. There are two Model A clubs we could join but one is about 40 miles away and the other is 75. We are members of a general club of over a hundred members but only two other Model A owners are in the group.

This unfortunately is becoming the norm. I hate going to car shows and seeing so many hot rod Model As... makes me sick.

Same here in the Midwest. And as DJ S stated---- I agree. Just my personal taste. Not important and means nothing.

Most car shows to me anymore are about a 20 minute walk thru. We own an early Mustang too, but even I get bored with seeing so many early Mustangs that are cobbled up messes. That plus new muscle cars, Vettes, street rods, etc. just don't grab me like the old original stuff. I hurry on by those types of cars anymore.

Any Model T-Model A- Early Ford Flathead, 30's Chevy and Chrysler cars and trucks, the Classics (late 1920's early 1930's Packards-Cadillacs-Lincolns)...... stuff like that makes me stop and LOOK!

But I'm a dying breed. It is what it is:)

BUT, we have to remember that EACH car is the owners' PRIDE & JOY! Don't miss the chance to meet GREAT person, just because you don't like their choice of cars!

I do like most all the cars, and as Bill said, there are many very nice people there.
But I always hope for some A's, so I can see what others have done to theirs, get some pointers, make connections and learn.
They don't have to be high point cars (mine sure ain't) just good Ole' daily drivers that look, act and drive like a real Model A.
Most of the A's that have shown at these car shows have V8's, disc brake, A/C units, AM/FM stereo, fancy custom interiors, tilt wheels, Mag wheels, etc...etc.
I've never been one to enter a car show, but like the guy said at this last one...if you would have been here earlier it would have been an easy win.
So maybe I should enter, just for shits and kicks, just to see what happens.

We typically go to these shows just because it's another excuse to drive our cars. Most of the time we don't even bother to "enter" judging, but we do have a fair amount of traffic looking at our "original" Model As, even though most of them would fail miserably at fine point judging, they can actually be recognized as a Model A!

On Friday nights we have a car show at the local Big Lots store and we get every kind of car or truck you can imagine. Most are modified and we used to get only one or two original model A's. Well we started to see a few more and we got together and parked along side of each other and we became known as the "A team." Some weeks we get as many as ten "A's" together and we're always a hit. People look forward to seeing us and there's always lots of questions. The "A team" now has breakfast once a month. Always a good time.

Mr. Carl, I think you hit the nail on the head.

Bill....I always enjoy your perspective.
Rob, I go to car shows mostly for socializing & "chick watchin":D & I've found that some Hot Rodders ENVY my "stock" Model A. Sometimes they even say things like, "OH, that's how that DO-DAD looked, when it was first made"!
Lighten up on Hot Rodders, Hot Rodding has been around since cars FIRST existed:) Even down in the woods, Chief knew about RAJO heads, RUCKSTELS, & HOLLY HOT PLATE carbs, etc, for Model T's.

I'm fortunate enough to have both ends covered...original and hot rod. I like em all. Just love working on them and meeting people with the same enthusiasm.
The cobra was a 1 1/2 year project. Just took the "A" apart. Not sure how long that project will be, but can't wait to be driving it again.

Our local group is a mismatch of everything, some hot rods, alot of mostly stock 60-70's muscle cars/land barges, get a few 2 seater MG's and triumphs, someone always shows up in a 1934 chrystler airflow, and a late 20's lincoln (BIG car). Guy brings his model A shay - interesting to look at as its very similar but not one thing exact. See a few 40's-50's cars too. Buicks straight 8 is an impressive engine i will say! For now i bring my chevette, still a hit as its a car everyone could afford and had one or knew someone who had one.

Only ever seen one model A show up unfortinately. Theres a local model a club that does a monthly driving destination tour and i see model a's somewhat reguarly around but never at car shows...
