1929 tudor - front right tire wear issue..

Have a mystery...needs some of you "experts suggestions":
1929 Tudor right front tire wears 3/4 slick 1/4 normal

1st tire fresh/new left Texas to Blue Ridge in 2013 and back ~ ruined 4200 mile round trip
2nd tire wearing same with 2-3K miles now

Front end rebuilt since the 1st tire
Rim roundness checks out
Asked many, no one seems to have had this experience ~ need to now order another tire (all other tires wearing fine by the way) but without a solution becoming an expensive re-occurrence.
Input welcomed!

Bent axle!
Bill

put it on a modern alignment rack and post your specs here.
dont go to a monkey chain type place to get it checked

the only thing you can fix your self is toe in, every thing else (camber, caster) has to be done on a heavy duty alignment machine, find a shop that works on truck front ends, like Bill posted, you most likely have a bent axle or frame

I bet the camber is out on the wheel showing the wear. That is caused by the axle being bent, as has been suggested above. It can be straightened easily in the car if you take it to a place that works on truck front ends. They have the equipment to straighten it with no fuss. Even with the bent axle, the car may track fairly well though you will notice an improvement when it is straightened.

Is it wearing on the inside--or outside

if you rub your hand in--out across the tread do you feel sharp edges one way, smooth edges the other

does the car make a lot of trips around the ramp in a parking garage (I once had a customer that went to the top and down 10 times a day and would wear outside edge of the right front tire in a month)

In this area many of the places doing alignments do not do a caster sweep on a car without adjustments, and it may be hard to find a place that is willing to enter the A specs in the machine --it won't be in the database

A bent steering arm can be set to proper toe settings for straight driving but when the wheels are turned the toe can be way off

When I have to work on a car that I am told "It's been aligned 5 times but it still wears tires" I start by parking the car in a wide open level area and standing back 20-30 feet and looking at the car, sighting down the wheels, looking at the stance, turning the wheel and comparing the angle they turn (inside wheel has to turn more than outside) ---then I get a tape measure and check the wheelbase on each side

You need an alignment shop that can go beyond just caster, camber and toe, one that can check toe while wheels are turned, and kingpin inclination ---a shop that knows alignment, not just how to turn on the alignment machine
