Battery bracket mount - photos

When the hydraulic brakes were put on this car in the 50s by my father-in-law he moved the battery back to behind the seat and cut a hole in the floor. The master cylinder was placed in the spot where the battery should be.

I'm redoing the brakes having made a bracket to turn the master cylinder facing rearward so I can keep the battery in the correct location and fixing the 'hole' in back.

I bought one of the (As I've come to learn by reading here) one of the 'not so correct' powder coated battery brackets that I wish to install.

As I have no reference to properly mounting it I've searched trying to find photos of how it is supposed to be mounted and can't find any.

Could someone post a photo or two to help me out?

I'd love to have a good set of restoration manuals so I wouldn't have to ask questions like this but the current state of affairs in my budget makes me choose between parts or manuals and not both.

I'm losing my race between father-in-law with Alzheimers and budget to get this car done. The shorter days of fall/winter seem to be speeding up his condition.

I should be able to give him a "50 foot" run up the driveway on a rolling chassis by the end of Thanksgiving weekend.

Thank you.

Not the greatest shot and my tray was missing the bottom plate at the time, but you should see how the battery box is orientated with the frame:

On my stocker the studs screw in to the bracket where there are two female towers and a separate pair of bolts hold it to the frame. The Snyders set up looks like the stud kit dose double duty, holding the battery box to the frame with two nuts on each stud, and the hold downs with the final two nuts.

As explained by you this makes perfect sense to me now how this will attach.

I will give it a try tonight when I get home.

I originally put this together with the studs below the frame with the battery suspended. It wasn't very sturdy and clearly was assembled wrong. Everything was several inches lower than it should be. There is no way this could be right because it made the cable way too short.

Thanks for the help.

thebanjoman,

Just an aside, I believe there were 3 different styles of battery boxes, but all
mount in the same place. Farrell's is in the later part of 1928 with the second
style battery box.....I think. Good luck

It went in just as you suggested. I had to use a 3rd bolt into the frame side but the stud on the cross brace matched up fine. The corner brackets hold the battery well and its very secure. The proper battery cables fit now too.

Thank you.

Glad it worked out, most repops put up a fight but yours works good.
Kind of eerie ain't it? (cue scary muzak in background)
With any luck a young blonde in a tee shirt two sizes too small will run screaming into your garage right about now..............
