Electric fuel pump shutoff switch

I would like to install a shut off switch for my electric fuel pump which would be activated by a drop in engine oil pressure in case of an accident.I would still need to prime the engine with the electric pump but if there is no oil pressure the pump will not operate. How do I set it up so that I can prime the pump to start the engine ?

I hooked up a secondary, spring loaded toggle switch, that I could hold on
till the fuel pump pressure was adequqate, then let go of toggle.

the chevy vegas used one of those on the oil pressure switch, but call these people Pegasus Auto Racing Supplies 1 800 668 6946, the Vega oil pressure switch would let the electric fuel pump work while engine was cranking, after engine started the engine would have enough oil pressure to let the pump work after you let go of the ignition switch, but if you lost oil pressure the pump would be shut off and engine would die

I know this isn't what you asked but what if the engine continues to run in an accident? I use an inertia switch from a late model Ford product instead.

Ahh memories... Way Back when Vega's were around I worked for a towing company and we would get a LOT of Vegas that wouldn't run. Took us a long time to realize that because they burned so much oil the oil level would get low and lose oil pressure and the fuel pump would shut down.

Get the car to the shop and it would start right up while cranking but would shut down as soon as you let go of the key.... due to low oil pressure and the shut down switch.:rolleyes:

Way back when, we used "Murphy" gauges on our tractors, and irrigation pumps. These would kill the engine for low oil pressure, and/or high water temp.
