Mondays distributor is a "Kong"!!

I has always hears those caps are 1933-34 Packard and 1928-30 Lincoln. Is there any truth to that?

flatheadmurre, When did a Nissan Stanza have an 8 cyl. engine?

Four cylinder with dual plugs, one rotor with contacts 180° apart. Emissions stuff.
I'm sure Kong Jackson redesigned the body of the distributor and went to that cap/rotor for it's availability and low cost.

Oops! My bad! I forgot all about that engine! Does NAPZ sound like the model designation?

I believe this is the later style cap.

My dad and Kong were good buddies. For the early ignitions he had Ed Winfield grind the cams. I remember in the mid 70's he had a big box full of them. Wess Cooper helped me build up a "B" motor for my 29 roadster pickup.

Kong put together an ignition that had plate with four slots and a light beam. He came off the front of the engine with a right angle drive and used an Olds 4 banger ignition cap. For the advance he had two plates each with four slots that were on different angles. In each set of slots he put a ball bearing and the faster the ignition turned the farther the ball bearing would want to move to the outside against a spring return. really ingenious. He only made one of these.

Here is Kong showing off my trick ignition to Ed Winfield. Me on the right. 1976

Kong made quite a few one of a kind ignitions. I was lucky to have had one especially for free.

Here is one I did recently. Serial number 100.
