What color is my car?

Hi All,

I've had the glorious opportunity to purchase my Grandfather's Model "A" Coupe.

He purchased it in the 70's from a Kansas farmer and as a kid I "helped" him restore it which was 35 years ago.

I remember it being a factory beige with brown trim, and when painted he went with green and black.

I like the combination but do not know if it was a factory '30 ford "A" combo, although I'd like to think so.

Thanks in advance.

Mark

Hi, Mark-
It's not quite an original paint scheme for this body style in this year.

But don't worry about it. It looks good, and it provides a link back to the time you spent working with your Grandfather on it. That's more valuable than "proper paint".

It kinda sorta looks like kewanee green, but I don't think the scheme is correct. I think the trim should be elk point green if the main color is actually kewanee.
The kewanee looks too dark to me but it may just be the picture. Regardless it looks good in the picture.

I like your Grandpa's taste in colors-go with it till it needs a repaint and then you get to choose......

I think it's Brewster Green or Rock moss green. I really doubt that it's Kewanee and Elkpoint Green.

I just (today) finished spraying my 29 tudor in rock moss (dark) green and vagabond (lighter) green. So this is what those colors look like.

Thanks guys for the great comments.

Based on the links of other cars I believe it is Kewanee Green, which is a neat color.

I will leave it as is, it looks good and I am now going to start going through the mechanicals, the car has 84,000 original miles and the motor is tired, it burns a lot of oil through the exhaust - so I will have the motor rebuilt this fall.

Mark, I'm sticking my neck out here, but with all due respect, I don't believe it's Kewanee green. Go to my profile/album "my A" and picture # 88 is Kewanee green. The combination of Kewanee Green/Elkpoint green was one of about 5 or 6 color combinations that was used on Town Sedans. The reveals and top were Elkpoint Green on my car. Also,on page 56 of the Mod A News, vol.62 No2 March April 2015, There is an ad for a 30 Town Sedan and it's painted Kewanee Green/Elkpoint Green andI believe you'll see the difference.
