Ford F1 rubber mat placement question

Bought a factory repop rubber floor mat for my 52 and I was wondering where the mat starts. I have a floor shifter and it's a pain in the *** to remove so if I could find out where the rubber starts that could be helpful.
It seems like it should start under the front mounts of the seat along that mounting rail... Pics would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

i have not done mine yet but have planned on making a paper pattern to locate the cut outs. Construction grade paper works well. Measure once, cut twice....no-no that's measure twice cut once. Ya see, that's why I use paper to pattern from.

Mine is a little wider than the floor at the kick panels, so it rolls up them maybe 1/2" on each side. In the doorways it is darn near perfect. Mine is a Dennis C. repro.

Edit: I see what you're asking. Yes, it butts up against the rail under the seat.

Right on thanks for that!

I bought the Macs one, it was like $50 cheaper. Wonder why...

Is it made by DC? Mine has DC's info molded in on one edge. I bought it 12 years ago, almost time for a new one!

Here's a shot of it

Ross, what is that mat you have under the seat? Is that an original type of thing or?? Mine is bare there. I like it.

It's "floor runner" from Home Depot, ribbed rubber. Cheap and durable, kind of matches the look of the main mat.

Right on Ross! That's my next step filling underneath the seat. Hell my brand new one looks terrible, I guess they're using the OG mold. What did you use to fasten it all down. Looks great btw!

My grandpa used it in his toolbox! Very durable, and cheap.

The runner is under the seat mounts, so the seat holds it in place. The main mat holds itself down, at the column and pedals.

Check your main floor mat for the DC info, I am going to buy another soon and if yours looks bad, I may hold off. Mine is still in pretty good shape but is cracking from taking it in/out so many times (for trans/clutch/engine work).

It says in DC catalog that it's crap tooling and they don't have anything better. I'll get some pics up tomorrow.

Relevant thread! My wife just ordered me a floor mat for Father's day and I was concerned about shifter location. I was just going to take the shift lever out, put the mat down and kinda work around it with a razor. Still waiting for it to be delivered.

Where did you see this. Here is what is says in the online catalog.

"Some Floor mats on the market are reproduced using old original molds that have flaws, We have made an entirely new mold resulting in a high quality floor mat that is correct in every detail!"
