I'm curious as to: 1) Why Henry used Terne metal tubing for fuel lines, 2) How were terne metal fuel lines manufactured, I think they are a rolled multi layer tube, 3)Can someone suggest a source to read more about Ford's development of Model A fuel lines? tHANKS.

I was curious myself; I Google'd terne metal, and found it has excellent corrosion resistant qualities when in contact with petroleum products. It also works well when roll formed because of self-lubricating properties.

There is lots more info than I can type here.

I'm curious as to: 1) Why Henry used Terne metal tubing for fuel lines, The lead-tin coating is resistant to fuels and since the fuel and the environment cannot get in contact with the steel it is very corrosion resistant 2) How were terne metal fuel lines manufactured, I think they are a rolled multi layer tube, Specific to Ford, I don't know. I do know that there were terne finished sheet available (still today) and the lead acts like a lubricant when forming. The fuel tank insides were Terne finished.)Can someone suggest a source to read more about Ford's development of Model A fuel lines? tHANKS.

I too would love to know more about Fords use of terne finishes.
