35 Ingition Switch

Guys,

I broke the pot metal lever that activates the ingition on the steering column. Can't seem to find one in the repro catalogs. Any advise. Also, I'm trying to remove the pieces. Do I need to remove the key assembly first? What about the piece that is attached to the round column with the vandleproof head. Does that need to come off?

Full of questions.
Thanks much,
Peder

your in for a hard job. The column has to be removed from the car. That means the steering wheel and the horn rod, Yes the ignition lock cylinder has to be removed, also the pointed pin that moves the ignition switch movable contact, as well as the chrome end cap. You do not have to remove the headless bolt retaining the column drop to the column tube, but do have to remove the one holding the column drop to the dash. You may be better off finding another column since by this point you still do not have a replacement switch handle. 35 had two different switch handles, the early round (bulls eye) and the later "paddle" style. good luck.

I have some instructions for taking the column drop apart and putting it back together. If you need them send my a PM with your email address.

Peder-

Send me your email address and I will forward what I have along with some pictures that should help.
